Private counselling and holistic care for living and dying well.

Change is an important part of life’s journey and one thing is for sure, none of us will live forever. This is the only certainty that we have.

With the death of four dear friends and three family members within a few years, I realised that I was comfortable around death and dying. With this realisation I also came to understand that others were not so comfortable with this concept or change. I found myself surrounded by people looking to me for support. I noticed that people’s fear would rise by just talking about death. It was as if by discussing death it would mean it would occur sooner.

It is because of this that I am dedicated to providing counsel and guidance at these pivotal times of change in people’s lives.

Having enjoyed teaching and supporting children with psycho-educational programs especially with grief and loss, as well as running a general counselling practice, my work has shifted towards end-of-life support and education.

Through facilitating discussions about death and dying and working as an Amicus (midwife to the sick and dying), it has been my privilege and a deeply humbling experience to be a companion to those who transition from this human experience and supporting their families.

This is done through a number of ways. I offer grief and bereavement counselling to individuals and loved ones where I provide guidance, advocacy, emotional and spiritual support.

Other support and dignity modalities include Expressive Therapies, Bio-Energetics, Therapeutic Touch, guided visualisation, meditation, mindfulness and other relaxation techniques.

Another important part of my work includes the facilitation of rituals and ceremonies to support the integration of life’s most challenging situations. My interest in ancient indigenous cultures has flourished since becoming a Counsellor in 2006 and I have had amazing opportunities to participate in ceremonies and rituals here in Australia as well as overseas. I felt so blessed to spend time with the Shamans of Peru, some First Nations peoples of Canada and USA.

I also support clients and their families at the time of diagnosis but I also offer my services to anyone wishing to prepare their Advance Care Directives, Appoint Medical Decision Makers and a Power of Attorney.

I have a non-directive, person-centred approach.

I am a very compassionate, non-judgmental and a caring communicator who supports clients to develop self-awareness and gain their own insights whilst also helping them to make independent and informed choices.
